What makes ESP Studio Different?

1.My goal for students is not just music-learning and music-appreciation through the piano, but a musical approach to mastering the instrument itself. I focus on technique and sound, which involves truly listening and playing with attention to detail. This results in expressive playing and enjoying all that the instrument has to offer even the youngest player.

2. In addition to the obvious cognitive benefits of music, I hope that students will find that their music offers a rewarding creative outlet and eventually, a release for stress and anxiety. I try to create a positive, yet challenging environment where students can thrive both musically and personally, and I take a genuine interest in the people that I get the privilege of seeing each week.

3. Every student will be able to pursue their own unique interests in piano in addition to learning the basics. Some students have focused on composition, playing by ear, chords and improvising, classical music, popular and broadway music, and worship. I’m currently delving into the worlds of jazz and stride piano to learn alongside my students!

My students are so special!

Every student is unique and I truly appreciate each one. Many students are with me for 12 years or more, and I am so grateful!

My training…

“Welcome to my piano studio! I came to Lebanon, Ohio from Downingtown, Pennsylvania by way of University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. My B.M. is in both Piano Performance and Music Education. In addition to composing and private instruction, I also have experience in solo performing, accompanying, choral/general music classroom teaching, and Kindermusik (ages 18 months-3 years). I have had many students go on to study music in college, and countless more who continue to play piano into adulthood. I started my first private piano student when I was 13 and have never stopped teaching!”

Elizabeth was fortunate to study piano with Eugene Pridonoff and Richard Fields. While Elizabeth was completing her degree she focused on accompanying and collaborative playing, performing both locally and internationally with well-known instrumentalists and vocalists. She was trained to teach in the classroom as well with an emphasis on choral music and general music education, K-12.

Ms. Swift currently runs a diverse private piano studio in greater Cincinnati, working with a wonderful group of preschoolers to adults. Although she is classically trained, she incorporates all styles of music in her studio and is passionate about teaching composition, improvisation, and other forms of self-expression and confidence-boosting through the piano. Elizabeth encourages students to think independently and arrive at their own decisions on interpretation and style. Students will understand and appreciate the style of the masters, but they are given freedom to change their own interpretation to reflect their own ideas and passions. Additionally, there are often sounds of unique, creative arrangements wafting through the studio, driven by the students themselves.

Since all of the work at Elizabeth Swift Piano Studio is student-focused, no two lessons will look alike. By combining student interests with student needs, every student receives their own well-rounded music education.
